Artists Books - BookArt

In contrast to other books that deal with art (catalogs, brochures, etc.), artists books are themselves objects of art. Artist books are part of a long-standing tradition. Some of more well know genres include: poetry books, travel books, books that bring together the works of a specific artist or a specific subject. The common factor is the standard of work, and how the subject is approached.

Often, the artist book contains either original art, or a high-quality reproduction made on a standard that is acceptable to any museum or art collector.

Today, artists books are produced by engraving, woodcuts, reproduction with a stencil, PUBSHIN, digital reproduction using Digigraphie, and similar techniques. Sometimes, the artist will take a classical book and work with its content as an interpreter, a responder, or an illuminator. Many Israeli artists have chosen this genre to artistically explore books such as The Book of Jonah, Ecclesiastes, The Book of Ruth, the Passover Haggadah, the Bible, among others. We are proud to work with many of these artists, and we are proud that we have participated in the creation of many books that can be found in major art collections and museums, and some of the largest and most prominent national archives in the world.

We have participated in the production of these books in many ways: choosing of the format, the choice of media, pagination, typography, accompanying materials, the design of the final product, and the production of fine art prints.

This work is very exciting, full of surprises and the joy of creation. We are proud to work with leading binders, among them Shevach Block of “The Art of Binding”; and Edo Aggasi, of “HaMammalacha”.
